As part of World Savvy’s 20th anniversary celebration, this workshop introduces educators, donors, Board members, and other supporters to World Savvy’s approach to building global competence through community engagement. Participants will explore the concept of solidarity and the ways we can re-imagine “service days” to create sustainable relationships that benefit everyone. Using a case study of SDG #2: Zero Hunger, we will envision how to equitably engage students in their communities in ways that foster global competence, encourage the co-construction of knowledge through reflection, and support students’ budding self-identities as agents of change.
