Global Youth Media and Arts Program (MAP)
What Is It?
The Global Youth Media and Arts Program (MAP) is a six-month partnership between World Savvy and 20-25 local arts and media organizations and schools. For the MAP, World Savvy works with teaching-artists and youth from each organization to create a connection between their curricula and a global theme, and also to create local connections. MAP, brings together youth from a range of backgrounds to explore topics of international and community relevance. The MAP ends with a professional Youth Arts Festival that showcases the visual and performing artwork created based on the international theme.
How Does It Work?
The Global Youth MAP includes the following:
- On site workshops related to the annual theme
- Field-trips to Bay Area communities and arts institutions, led by World Savvy
- One Jam Session to bring all youth together to learn about the theme, share ideas, create collaborative projects and interact with adult artists and media professionals
- The Global Youth Media and Arts Festival to present their completed art and media works
