The Global Educators Program

In the Bay Area, World Savvy is offering a range of professional development services designed to help educators mainstream global issues content into classroom instruction.

  • services range from free email updates and workshops to the core of our program – individualized consulting to help teachers build their resources and skills to teach global issues
  • all services and materials are aligned to state educational standards
  • all services and materials are designed to be easy to integrate with your existing curriculum

Bay Area Programs:

School Partnerships

The core of the Global Educators Program. School partners work intensively with World Savvy to create and support a school culture which provides students with the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes conducive to responsible global citizenship.

In 2009-10, we are partnered with three Bay Area schools:

  • International Studies Academy, San Francisco
  • Roots International Academy, Oakland
  • Youth Empowerment School, Oakland

Global Issues Workshops

Engaging professional development workshops that provide educators with content knowledge of global issues, plus engaging content and standards-aligned curriculum for classroom use.

World History Study Group

A program of World Savvy and the Bay Area Global Education Project (BAGEP)

This monthly study group discusses contemporary global issues and infusing a global perspective into curriculum. The theme for this year's group is Transnational Transgressions, and this program is also co-sponsored by ORIAS, at UC Berkeley.

This study group is now full for the year. For pre-registered participants, the upcoming workshop dates for 2009-10 are:
