World Affairs Challenge™ (WAC)
The World Affairs Challenge is an innovative academic program and competition for middle and high school students that focuses on an annual global theme. The theme for the 2010 WAC is Water around the World.
- The WAC ties global awareness to state content standards and is a fun way for students to learn about current world issues.
- With the support of an adult coach, students work in teams to research a topic related to the theme and prepare for Challenge Day.
- WAC teams can be formed around an in-class project linked to the curriculum or as an extracurricular activity.
- On Challenge Day, students participate in four events involving presentation, collaborative decision making, visual art and content knowledge. Learn more...

The World Affairs Challenge™ program was developed by Center for Teaching International Relations at the University of Denver in 1991. World Savvy introduced the program in San Francisco in 2003 and in Minneapolis in 2008. In San Francisco alone, the program has served over 1700 students and continues to grow!
