WAC - Program Description - Participants

The World Affairs Challenge™ is an academic program and competition that focuses on an annual global theme. This year’s theme is Global Health.

  • The World Affairs Challenge™ is a fun way for you to learn about current world issues
  • You will gain skills in research, public speaking and collaborative work
  • Students with a variety of skills and backgrounds can participate and succeed in this program

The 6th Annual World Affairs Challenge™ will be held on March 15th, 2008 at San Francisco State University. Over 500 students will compete with teams from 30 Bay Area schools, each presenting a creative project on various topics related to the theme of Global Health.

As a World Affairs Challenge™ Participant, you would:

  • Join a team of up to 12 students
  • Meet with your team at least once a week for Challenge preparation for 8-12 weeks
  • Research a topic related to the theme, Global Health, that is interesting to you and your teammates
  • Keep up with current events during the research period to prepare for the Global Awareness Quiz
  • Write a script with your teammates for your Formal Presentation
  • Create a Discovery Poster about your topic
  • Present at the Challenge and take part in its 4 events!
