WAC - Challenge Day
After preparing for 8-12 weeks, students come together to share their research with other students, parents, and judges from the community. At the Challenge, students compete in four events:
The Four Events
1. The Formal Presentation
Each team is given 15 minutes to make a presentation on their chosen aspect of the annual topic. This presentation may be in the form of a role-play, a mock trial, a TV newscast, a video presentation, or any other creative means to communicate a thorough understanding of the complexities of the topic and a proposal for a reasonable solution at the international, national, and local/individual level.
After the presentation, judges may ask questions of the team on issues related to the presentation (e.g. How did various members participate? How were disagreements resolved? Describe the team's decision-making process, etc.).

2. The Collaborative Question
For this event, participants are assigned to new teams, and will not work with their teammates. Teams are given a “real world” question, simulation, or problem related to the annual topic. After the participants discuss the issue and agree on a proposed solution, judges will ask them about their solution and their decision-making process as a group.

3. Solution Showcase
The Solution Showcase is a visual representation of the solutions each team develops for their formal presentation. The purpose of the solution showcase is to clearly and artistically present the solutions students developed for their formal presentations. This is a way for teams to share their solutions with peers and expand all participants’ knowledge about the annual theme and give them ideas for continued involved after the World Affairs Challenge.
For the 2010 WAC, the Solution Showcase will replace the Discovery Poster.

4. The Global Knowledge Quiz
The Global Knowledge Quiz is a 30-minute, 50-question, multiple choice quiz on international relations. The quiz tests students’ knowledge of world geography, current international events and basic international relations. Each quiz is scored individually and then averaged for an overall team score.
