GEP - Global Issues Workshops

World Savvy provides two kinds of workshop opportunities for educators to continue to develop their knowledge and awareness of global issues and learn about new resources and lessons that can be used in their classrooms. The first is a series of workshops - open to any educator - on a variety of relevant community and international topics, and the second are customized staff-development workshops on school sites.

Teacher Workshops:

Throughout the school year, World Savvy hosts workshops for educators on global issues. The workshops feature expert speakers, a chance for educators to share resources and dialogue about how to bring these issues into the classroom, as well as free curriculum materials for educators to take back to their classrooms.

Registration for these workshops is free but limited, and open to any educator - either classroom teachers or other youth educators.

Benefits:

  • Gain knowledge about important and relevant international issues
  • Hear distinguished speakers share academic insights and personal stories, and answer your questions
  • Network with other teachers interested in bringing these issues into the classroom
  • Receive FREE curriculum and resources to incorporate each topic into your lesson plans across disciplines

Staff Development Workshops:

World Savvy also provides in-service and staff development workshops in schools, youth development organizations, and other educational organizations.

These workshops provide staff with up-to-date information on contemporary global issues, how to connect global issues to state standards, as well as providing participants with sample curriculum ideas and resources for additional information.

Workshops can be from one hour to several hours long, depending upon the needs of the audience. Workshops can also be adapted to fit the needs of an individual group, and fees will depend upon the length and content of the workshop.

Sample workshop themes include:

  • Human Rights and Citizenship
  • Immigration and Refugees
  • Global Health
  • And more... Customized workshops are also available

Please contact Kelly for more details or to schedule a workshop, at 415-292-7421 or kelly@worldsavvy.org.
