GEP - Global Issues Workshops

Workshops are presented by World Savvy, and co-sponsored by the Bay Area Global Education Project (BAGEP) or the Commonwealth Club. Each workshop will be held on site at either the World Affairs Council or the Commonwealth Club, will feature an expert speaker, followed by a reception afterward for teachers. At the reception, dinner will be served, as well as discussion about how to apply the issues in the classroom, followed by dissemination of relevant curricula and readings for the classroom.

Educator Workshop - Innocents Lost: When Child Soldiers Go to War

Jimmie Briggs is the first African American to be appointed as Goodwill Ambassador and Special Envoy for Children and Armed Conflict at the UN. He is the author of "Innocents Lost", a book about the lives of child soldiers and children in war zones. Join us as Jimmie speaks about his writing and his advocacy for war-affected children around the world. A light dinner will be provided, as well as curriculum and resources for the classroom following the presentation and discussion with Mr. Briggs.
