International Interview Project

Each year, a class of students from one or more schools participate in the International Interview Project. Throughout the school year, they have read novels about immigration and other cultures. Then it is time for students to do a little research of their own.

World Savvy helps find foreign nationals or recent immigrants who are willing to be interviewed by students participating in the class. Each volunter is interviewed by a group of about four students, for about 30 minutes.

Before the interview, the students will research your home country, and learn more about the culture, the politics, and the economics there. They will then prepare a set of questions for your interview, asking you about these ideas, but also about your personal experiences - what it was like in your home country and your experiences in coming to the United States. Then students will write a report, based on their research and the interview. They will also prepare an oral presentation, which will be recorded as a radio podcast and which will air on their school's website.

Please note: students will be tape recording their interviews with you and might use a quote or a portion of your comments in their radio podcast, which can be listened to on the school's website. If you do not want to be quoted in the student's presentation, please let us know.

Time Commitment: Approximately 30 minutes. To be alerted when this project is coming up, please send an email to Kelly Korenak at kelly@worldsavvy.org or call her at 415-292-7421.
