World Savvy Summer Scholars

This summer, World Savvy had the unique opportunity to teach a 3-week summer class at the FAIR School Downtown in Minneapolis, as part of the West Metro Education Program’s Summer Scholars Institute. The class was designed to engage middle school students in projects to explore their environment and their community  with a global perspective. During the course of the program, students had the chance to hear from a representative from the Alliance for Metro Stability about their work to advance environmental justice in the Twin Cities, they also took a field trip to Stone’s Throw Urban Farm to learn about cultivating the urban jungle, and they took a walking tour of downtown Minneapolis to explore several of the city’s sustainable sites – including Target Field, the Downtown Public Library, and the Nicollet Mall Farmer’s Market.
